|Description:||The icon representing the Annunciation and Saints Peter and Paul is an interpretation after a Romanian model of the seventeenth century, the desire of personal interpretation, however, keept a slightly naive style. Note that the original work was painted actually on an altar door. As indicated by the Byzantine religious canons, the altar doors are painted with the Annunciation, that Archangel Gabriel announcing that Mary will bear the Son of God. In the superior part are saints Peter and Paul, St. Paul the founder of the Christian Church and St. Peter as guardian of the gates of heaven, whose keys he holds.|
|Materials:||The icon is made of dry wood reinforced with wood bars, covered with a natural fiber cloth layer, for a higher strength and stability against the external factors. Base preparation is made by a tested recipe, based on bone glue, chalk dust and other quality ingredients.
The painting technique is called egg tempera, an ancient procedure that gives the painted layer special and artistic properties and also a greater resistance over time. For golden areas, it was used gold leavs, hand polished.
The icon was finished with professional laquers, wich hold and protect the painting and do not allow yellowing over time.
